During the summer before my final semester at Kennesaw State University, I was given the amazing opportunity to work with Home Depot as a UX Intern. During this time I was able to build strong relationships and gain skills working in a corporate UX setting.

Overview
Over the course of this internship, I worked in supply chain on the enterprise side of UX. The main goal of my project was to improve the current experience by conducting research and finding a solution. I worked in a cross functional team including my Product Manager, UX manager, UX designers, and Software Engineers. I also worked alongside Software Engineering interns giving then the user research that they needed to complete their project.

In the first weeks of my internship I met my team and learned about my project and the overall UX process. A lot of questions were asked in that first week but I had a great team that helped me through!
After I got a rundown of my project and what I needed to accomplish, I started the user research process with my mentor. This included planning out the best strategies for collecting the data that I needed and writing a script for my user interviews. In this research process I interviewed users from the main user group across different locations in the US. Each interviewee gave their own unique insight that allowed me to piece together patterns and find the main problem I needed to solve.
I used Miro to map out my ideas and start drawing low fidelity wireframes after I finished my user research. Once my wireframes were done I moved to Figma so that I could create the actual prototype that would soon be tested by users. During this entire process I also got a lot of peer feedback from other UX designers and my product manager.
At the end of my internship, I had a fully responsive and interactive prototype that I could present to the Senior Director and VPs during my final report out presentation. From this experience, I learned so much about things like corporate design systems, building relationships, user testing, etc. Overall it was an amazing opportunity that I'm so grateful for.
